A brief note on tapestries

  • There are over forty tapestries that represent the art form from different parts of the world. The styles of these tapestries include loom weaving, crewel, crochet, applique, multimedia (e.g. fabric, beads, lace and threads) and varying levels of embroidery from simple cross-stich to advanced techniques
  • Examples of countries that are represented are listed below:
    • Scandanavia and Western Europe: Sweden, France, and Belgium
    • Central Europe: Hungary and the Czech Republic
    • Northern Africa: Morocco and Egypt
    • Asia: Iran, Uzbekistan, China, India, and Japan
    • Latin America: Mexico and Peru
